Hello again! With Summer just around the corner, are you looking for ideas of fun things to do with your children during the vacation? If so, I recommend a fun iPhone app, Flat Stanley ($1.99), the official application of the Flat Stanley Project, which has been successfully building literacy and community building skills in schools and neighborhoods across North America, since 1995. This app (which is currently only available on the iPhone) allows you to create photos with Flat Stanley and share them via e-mail, Facebook, or directly to the Flat Stanley Project website (flatterworld.com). You can choose from a gallery of over 25 digital Stanley figures, which you then can insert directly into your photo. Check out my photo, above, of Stanley dancing across my sofa. You also can download paper templates of the Stanley figures from the website, which you can color and share with others. And, of course, you can read all about Flat Stanley's adventures around the world in the book series (bottom photo), which is available at flatstanleybooks.com. Perhaps the best part is that in addition to having fun, you are helping to support a very worthy cause: promoting literacy!
I wish you all a safe and fun Summer vacation!
